Our client, Bayfield, is a rural residential treatment facility for children and youth. Their residential treatment programs offer care and treatment for boys experiencing difficulties such as conduct disorder, psychiatric disorders and attention deficit disorder.

Bayfield provides extensive activity programming with school, recreational, vocational and clinical components. Bayfield’s multi-disciplinary staff field includes Child Care Therapists, Vocational Instructors, Special Education Teachers and Clinical Staff. Psychiatric, psychological and neuropsychological consultations are provided, in house. Bayfield is looking to hire

General Statement of Purpose:

 

1.     To provide psychiatric consultation, assessment, diagnostic and treatment services to the children and youth residing within the Bayfield program.

2.     To consult with the treatment team (e.g. Medical Coordinator, Residential Staff, Teachers, Clinicians, Case Managers, and Parent Therapists) with regard to diagnosis, treatment planning, pharmacological needs etc.

3.     To provide adequate education to the client/agency worker/family/treatment team with regard to any prescribed medications for the purpose of alleviating identified symptoms.

 

 

Additional Information

 

·        The Consulting Psychiatrist will follow all Bayfield policies and procedures as well as abide by CARF standards in the provision of service.

·        An annual evaluation of the Consulting Psychiatrist’s service will be completed by the Clinical Director.

·        The incumbent must remain a member in good standing of the College of Physicians and Surgeons within the Province of Ontario.

·        The Consulting Psychiatrist shall act in accordance with The Child and Family Services Act, 1990; all regulations made there under; all directives issued by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.

·        Prior to their own initial psychiatric assessment,  the incumbent will receive an initial file review from one of

      our clinicians. This will allow for high client contact time.

·        Commitment time required – 1-3 days per month

·        Remuneration is competitive and flexible.
